Your Rugby Training Program

A question I get asked a lot is what should my training look like every week to become a better rugby player.

So I’ve decided to give you a quick overview…

What should a proper rugby training program include:

1)   Dynamic warm ups, to prime you for your session
2)   Mobility Work, to keep muscle supple and joints mobile
3)   Core Training, having a strong core can make you stronger and faster
4)   Strength & Power Training, to get you stronger and more explosive
5)   Blasters: Short intense workouts to increase cardiovascular and muscle strength and endurance and keep you lean
6)   Outdoor Conditioning: to mimic rugby and increase conditioning
7)   Prehab; to help prevent common rugby injuries

So what does a typical gym session look like:

1)   Warm Up
2)   Prehab
3)   Core
4)   Strength & Power
5)   Blaster
6)   Cool Down

What does a typical outdoor session look like:

It should generally contain 3 main elements

1)   SAQ
2)   Endurance
3)   Match Conditioning

And how does a typical training week look:

Monday: Gym work
Tuesday: Rugby Training / Outdoor
Wednesday: Gym Work
Thursday: Rugby Training / Outdoor
Friday: Rest / Prehab
Saturday: Match / Outdoor
Sunday Recovery

If you are following these principle and getting results, then good for you, keep it up…

If you aren’t, but you’d like to, then I have some good new for you.

I’m starting a new monthly online program where every month I’ll send you a new workout schedule complete with downloadable pdf’s and exercise videos

You’ll get everything I spoke of above

1)   Dynamic warm ups
2)   Mobility Work
3)   Core Training
4)   Strength & Power Training
5)   Blasters
6)   Outdoor Conditioning drills
7)   Prehab exercises

And I’ll send you a new schedule every month to keep things fresh and to make sure you keep improving

Am I going to charge for this and how much?

Yes I am… Well if you were to go to a normal personal trainer, they’d charge you £30-£60 PER SESSION… So if you were to work with someone who SPECIALISES in training rugby players they’d obviously charge more right…

Wrong… I haven’t finalised a price yet, but it’ll be somewhere between £15-£24 per month…
